WEDNESDAY EVENING HOLY EUCHARIST SERVICE

This Wednesday, December 4 at 6pm, we will have a Holy Eucharist Rite II service, this is a healing service with Laying on of Hands and the Anointing of the Sick.  All are welcome to attend.

 

WEEKDAY HOLY EUCHARIST SERVICE

This Thursday, December 5 at 1:30pm, the first Thursday of the month, Father Jon will be at Medicalodge for Holy Eucharist Rite II services.  Everyone is welcome to attend. 

ADVENT CALENDARS AVAILBLE

Twenty-three day advent calendars are available in parish hall and on the tables in sanctuary, each family is welcome to take a calendar.

TRINITY WOMEN’S BOOK CLUB – DECEMBER 8  

The book club will meet at the home of Faye Miller on next Sunday, December 8 at 2pm to discuss “At Water’s Edge” by Sara Gruen. A cookie and small gift/ ornament exchange for anyone who wants to participate in either or both!

 

WEEKDAY HOLY EUCHARIST SERVICE

Thursday, December 12 at 10:30am, the second Thursday of the month, Father Jon will be at Senior Village for Holy Eucharist Rite II services.  Everyone is welcome to attend. 

 

BISHOP CATHLEEN VIDEO BOOK DISCUSSION – DECEMBER 12

A video book discussion with Bishop Cathleen Bascom of The Power of Love by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will be Thursday, December 12 @ 7pm.  This online discussion will last one hour, and people can participate by video in the parish hall or by phone.  Please pre-register with Father Jon if unable to attend at parish hall. 

 

POINSETTIAS

Poinsettia orders are due by Sunday, December 15. Order forms are located on the tables in the sanctuary, please include form and $6 donation at time of ordering.

 

BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITATION – DECEMBER 15

After the 10:30am service in the Parish Hall, John and Marge Bishop invite all to celebrate their 155th combined birthdays. Cake will be served followed by chili.  

 

VOLUNTEER

Anyone who would like to be a lector, acolyte or oblationer for the 8am or 10:30am services, please speak to Father Jon before Tuesday, December 17. Schedules for January – March are coming soon.    

   

ALTAR GUILD HOLIDAY CLEAN UP – DECEMBER 21

Members of the Altar Guild and anyone with a desire to lend a hand are encouraged to attend a holiday cleaning party at the church on Saturday, December 21, beginning at 10am. Contact Marge Bishop 913 426-1636 if you have questions.

 

GREENING OF THE CHURCH - DECEMBER 22

On Sunday, December 22 following the 10:30am service and coffee hour, all members of the parish are invited to lend a hand and help decorate the sanctuary with seasonal greenery. Many hands make light work!

Episcopal Relief & Development offers year-end match up to $1 million

Episcopal Relief & Development again is offering supporters and donors the opportunity to double their impact with a donation. For a second year, contributions to Episcopal Relief & Development until the end of the year will be doubled, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $1 million. The Million Dollar Match will benefit the organization’s Global Needs Fund, enabling work around the world with local partners, helping communities overcome poverty, hunger, disaster and disease.

PLEDGE CARD REMINDER

Have you turned in your pledge for 2020?  If not, it’s not too late. Forms are available on sanctuary and parish hall table.  Just complete and drop in the collection plate. Support comes in many ways----your time, your talent and your treasure, please continue to pray for the success of our 2020 Stewardship Campaign. God’s blessings for your continued support!

SENIOR VILLAGE BIRTHDAY CAKE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Please see the cake volunteer list posted on the parish hall bulletin to sign up or call/email the office if you are interested.  Cakes are delivered to Senior Village the second Tuesday of the month and the current cake rotation schedule would be about four times per year a volunteer would be asked for a cake.  Please contact the office if you would like additional information, call 913 367-3171 or email .

COFFEE HOUR & ALTAR FLOWER SIGN UP

Sign up sheets for next year are posted in the parish hall. Please sign up for coffee hour or if you are interested in providing altar flowers.  There are many openings and it’s greatly appreciated.

 

REQUEST FROM ATCHISON COUNTY FOOD PANTRY

The food pantry is requesting volunteers and donations.  Please see information in parish hall.  

 

COFFEE AND CONVERSATION - 2nd WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH (not during Lent)

The second Wednesday of the month at 10:30am, all are invited to join "Coffee and Conversation" at the Atchison United Methodist Church, 501 Kansas Ave. 
 

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

On Wednesdays, 10am, the bible study group meets in the parish hall to study for one hour.  All Christian women are welcomed to this study offered at Trinity Episcopal Church.

LOAVES & FISHES OUTREACH COMMUNITY MEAL PROGRAM 

Provides free, hot, delivered meals every Saturday.  If you or someone you know that could benefit and are eligible for this local church sponsored program, please contact the First Presbyterian Church at 913 367-2072 for information.

 

ARE YOU  WILLING TO PROVIDE RIDES FOR OUT OF TOWN MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS?

The Atchison Community Health Clinic is looking for volunteers who are willing to provide rides to medical appointments (usually to St Joseph but sometimes Topeka or Kansas City).  On the average the clinic looks for a volunteer once or twice per month, volunteer name and number will be completely confidential.  For additional information or to volunteer, contact Faye Miller, LPN at Atchison Community Healthe Clinic, 913 367-4879 or .  Thank you for considering this service to our community.

LARGE TYPE EDITION BOOKS

We have purchased a few of the large type edition of The Holy Eucharist Rites I and II.  They are on the tables in the sanctuary.

her sister, Grace Muriel Earhart was baptized

May 19, 1901

and

 their parents, Edwin & Amy, 

 wed October 16, 1895

and 

Amelia’s & Graces's maternal grandparents,

 Judge Alfred G. and Amelia Otis, 

were founding members of Trinity. 

 

The Tenth Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Kansas elected 

The Reverend Cathleen Chittenden Bascom was elected October 19, 2018 

Her service of Ordination and Consecration was Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Grace Cathedral, with Presiding Bishop Michael Bruce Curry officiating.
